About Program

We designed our internship abroad program with personalization and career competencies in mind. Our placement process involves meeting you and your goals well enough to find the right internship and host organization to meet your needs. Our Career & Internship Team also coaches you on how to compose a strong résumé and cover letter and how to give a great interview.

CEA CAPA offers a study + internship option in Madrid during spring, summer, and fall sessions. Students in our study + internship model choose elective courses to supplement their internship placement, attending class alongside Spanish and other international peers.

All CEA CAPA Internships Abroad have a strong academic focus, include personalized placements primarily with small- to medium-sized businesses and organizations, and offer multiple options and price ranges. You can enroll in other study abroad coursework while you hold an internship so that you can continue to make steady progress toward your degree.

Diversity & Inclusion

BIPOC Support

CEA CAPA provides, in conjunction with Diversity Abroad, Destination Guides which provide resources and tips for Black/African-American students, Latinx students, Asian American students, and all other students of color.

LGBTQIA+ Support

Through our personalized advising, CEA CAPA takes steps to understand the needs of a diversity of student identities like the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to diversity and identity training, CEA CAPA leadership engage in continuous department level project work to identify and revise policies and practices using the appropriate Justice, Equity, Diversity or Inclusion lens as a frame to reduce bias and barriers that impact students, faculty, and staff. CEA CAPA is intentional in elevating diverse student voices and providing a platform for a broad array of identities to share their experiences abroad. The CEA CAPA World Blog promotes stories and personal experiences from the perspectives of diverse student bloggers and vloggers.

Neurodivergent Support

CEA CAPA is willing and able to assist students with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Students are requested to disclose disabilities through the application health forms as part of their application and in discussion with their application advisor or program manager. The earlier CEA CAPA is made aware of learning or physical disabilities the better we can work with the student, institution, and overseas team to tailor an Individualized Education Program if necessary to support the student.

Impact

Use of recycling bins in Study Center locations and in CEA CAPA housing

Students are often given reusable bags and water bottles upon arrival to limit single plastic use

Students are provided with instructions for acquiring transportation passes to promote use of public transportation rather than taxis

Great program

CEA did a great job of organizing groups and trips and would help a lot to support students through everything. Things were well done and I enjoyed it. Madrid was a great destination as well for all types of students. There was plenty of things to do, it was safe, easy to get around, and supportive for people who didn't know/ were learning Spanish. I had a tremendous growth during this and felt like it was a safe environment to try new things and learn in so many more ways than the classroom. I definitely recommend.

CEA CAPA Madrid was a Dream

I had a truly amazing time in Madrid interning (and studying). I was placed at the perfect internship for me, where I gained a ton of new skills. I LOVED my housing. It was right next to the royal palace and had fantastic amenities (a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, AND both AC and heat?!). Madrid is a beautiful city. It is INCREDIBLY clean, and the public transport is extremely reliable. It is also extremely safe. The violent crime rates are extremely low, and I was able to walk home at night alone, without being bothered once (something I can never do here in the US). Just watch out for pickpockets! CEA CAPA facilitated amazing events and excursions, and the entire program, including housing and these excursions, cost less than my university tuition for the semester.

Pros
  • Location in the city
  • Great program events and excursions
  • Saving money
