Great Teachers

Great school located in central location in Beijing. Teachers are terrific. They have their own online learning platform that is also very helpful. Would recommend for beginners as well as more advanced learners. I am in a small group class of four students.

Free beverages available at the office as well as small snacks. The classrooms are simple but great and feature big TV screens with sound as well as blackboards. This means that students are able to join in online from time to time, should they be unable to attend a class in person.

Pros
  • Location
  • Good teachers
  • Learning platform

That's Mandarin

I 100% recommend That's Mandarin. I came to China to work at a University which provided some Mandarin lessons but they we're terrible (slow paced and big class sizes). I discovered That's Mandarin through a friend and it has been an absolute pleasure.
My teachers are great, both are very inspiring. My course follows a well structured syllabus designed by That's Mandarin which is proving to be very useful. We also adapt the lessons for what I've been trying to use in conversation which keeps things fun and interesting.

Pros
  • Great teachers
  • My mandarin is improving
  • That's Mandarin organises fun activities

Great program to study Chinese

That's Mandarin is a great program for studying Chinese! The classes are one-on-one and fast-paced. I study a new unit every class, from units on the One Child Policy to environmental protection. The classes are well-integrated with technology, with my professors taking notes for me on vocabulary as we're going through the lesson. This allows me to pay more attention in class instead of taking extensive notes and helps studying at home. I especially love how flexible the classes are, with my teachers adapting to my interests.

Pros
  • One-on-one
  • Flexibility
  • Integrated with Technology

Nihao Cafe Online Class Review

I've enjoyed taking the courses with Nihao Cafe very much! I think the portal provided is clear and well organized, the structure makes it easy to keep up with so that I don't fall out of practice and the lessons are well paced and make it fun and easy to learn. I would like to emphasize how great my experience has been with the instructors. They are always friendly and engaging and motivate me to want to learn.
Only downsides to note are that the portal although well designed and overall easy to use can glitch and scheduling classes can be a bit confusing.

Pros
  • Flexibility
  • Accessibility
  • Makes learning fun
Cons
  • Some tech issues using the online portal
  • Scheduling can be confusing

Small Group Class with That's Mandarin

I am very satisfied with my classes at That's Mandarin. The staff has always been friendly, professional and helpful in every way. The new building is modern and very comfortable to learn in, with a nice common area where free drinks are provided. Last but not least, I'm very happy with my lessons. My teacher is amazing and understands exactly my needs, and I love the online vocabulary system. Thank you That's Mandarin!

Review for That's Mandarin

I came to That's Mandarin one month ago and I am quite satisfied so far. I had studied Chinese in a University before, but I do not recommend this opportunity. Now, while I am a student in That's Mandarin, I can mention several advantages of the school:

- English-speaking staff: Unfortunately, that is not to be taken for granted. The first time I called my old University's Admission Office, the secretary just hanged up after a few seconds, because I did not speak any Chinese back then. But at That's Mandarin, the whole application process was simple & available in English.

- The staff cares well about the students: My visa-documents arrived very fast & the Consultant even helped me to get a Chinese phone-card. Another University I had applied for did not even pick up the phone & ignored all the E-mails, including the ones written in Chinese. So even a Native Chinese-friend could not help me out with that.

Small classes: In a small class there is much more interaction with the students compared to a normal classroom with 20 people. My teacher is able to focus on the individual mistakes and tries to fix them.

Flexible hours: This aspect might be interesting for foreigners with a regular job, who can not participate in a class in the morning. That's Mandarin is open until 21:00 o'clock, so if you have to work during the daytime, just take your classes when you come back from your job.

If one keeps in mind the good service, the tuition fee is really justified in my opinion. I would also recommend to buy some books to study at home in your free time & to practise the Mandarin-skills in conversations with Chinese friends.

Online Courses from That's Mandarin

All of the staff I've contacted who work at That's Mandarin, from the admin to the sales to the teachers, have been immensely helpful and easy to talk to. They take away the barriers to getting information and to learning a new language. Don't be afraid to keep asking questions about their services from the sales and the admin! And if you have questions about learning Chinese, the teachers are really eager to help clarify anything, even unconventional questions about Chinese. They have many different options for taking classes, which is perfect for me since I work odd hours and am only available at certain times. From That's Mandarin, I am able to get a tailored class that's convenient for my lifestyle.
